1- As a graduate from Academie Edith Serei what are my chances of finding a job?
Excellent. The Academie Internationale Edith Serei has an excellent reputation and many employers use our job offers bulletin board. As a graduate, you could open your own salon or work in an institute. Many stores and pharmacies hire estheticians. Many hair salons can rent out a room which is ideal for an esthetician that is just starting out. Estheticians who have completed the electrolysis course have all the chances on their side.
2- What remuneration can I expect?
In this service industry, the starting salary (minimum salary) increases with experience. You can also expect to get commissions on your sales and sometimes on your treatments; this can vary from one employer to another.
3- What is the difference between a diploma and a certificate in esthetics?
The diploma is a programme including 3 courses: esthetics (skin care, depilatory waxing, cosmetology and skin diseases), make-up artistry, manicure (manicure and foot care). Each completed course leads to a certificate: in skin care or in make-up I or in manicure.
4- What is the difference between a diploma and a certificate in electrolysis?
Essentially, there is much more supervised practice for the diploma (450 hours) than for the certificate (300 hours). This allows the student to have more confidence in her work. After your course, you will know everything you need to know to work in your field. You can register in the certificate and then continue to work towards your diploma if you feel you need to do so.
5- What is the difference between the DEP and the Edith Serei diploma?
The Académie Internationale Edith Serei offers courses since 1958 and is considered to be the first esthetics school in North America. At the time, the Académie Internationale Edith Serei offered its intensive programme made up of 4 months of practical work at school and about 400 hours of theoretical homework to be done at home. The advantage with the Edith Serei diploma is that you enter the job market faster. Our school has an international reputation and our courses attract mature students who are responsible and are ready to make the effort to reach their goal. The Academie offers the possibility of making monthly payments.
In the 1970’s, the Ministry of Education decided to offer esthetics courses in its secondary schools. The DEP (diplôme d’études professionnelles) is 1,350 hours long and is given over 12 to 18 months depending on the school. The DEP in esthetics is an excellent choice for young students just coming out of secondary IV who need school supervision. The theory is done at school rather than at home and there are more hours spent in each course module. This programme is eligible for the Ministry of Education loan and bursary programme.
6- Madame Edith Serei's school is known all over the world; will my diploma be recognized everywhere?
Each country and even each state or province has its own requirements. The student must find out about the requirements of the different local associations.
